Tag Manager keeps measurement under control

Google Tag Manager, or GTM, is a tool for managing your site's tracking codes and events from one place, without constant code changes. We build and maintain the GTM setup so measurement stays clean, reliable and compliant with privacy rules.

Mediashake implements Google Tag Manager tracking technically the right way, including server-side. We build tagging to withstand cookie restrictions and browser privacy changes, so the measurement doesn't break halfway through.

What Tag Manager is, and why it's worth it

GTM is a control layer that sits between your measurement codes and your events. Through it, tracking is added and edited without a developer having to touch the site's code every time.

Built properly, GTM makes measurement manageable: all tracking lives in one place, changes are tested before they go live, and cookie consent is wired in centrally.

When Tag Manager needs fixing

  • Tracking codes are scattered through the site's code with no control
  • Adding a new event always needs a developer
  • Cookie consent doesn't steer the measurement correctly

How Mediashake uses Tag Manager

A clean structure

We build the GTM container clearly: named tags, triggers and variables, so the measurement still makes sense a year from now.

Consent handled centrally

We wire cookie consent to steer the tags, so measurement stays compliant without losing data needlessly.

Tested before it goes live

Every change is tested in preview mode, so faulty data never reaches production.

FAQ

Does Tag Manager need a separate setup alongside Google Analytics?
GTM is the recommended way to install Google Analytics and other tracking. It doesn't replace Google Analytics; it manages it and other tags centrally, which keeps measurement clean and changes easy.
Can GTM also handle server-side tracking?
It can. Server-side tracking is typically built with GTM's server container. That way the browser-side and server-side measurement are managed by the same tool.
Who maintains GTM in the partnership?
We do. We build and maintain the container as part of the analytics work, and we document the structure so your own team can manage it too if needed.
