How much does social advertising cost? Media budget size on Meta

There is no single right price for social advertising, because the right budget depends on your goals, your industry, and your audience. In Meta advertising, a workable starting level is usually at least around 1,000 euros a month. With less than that, campaigns don’t gather enough data to optimize.
Why a minimum budget matters
Meta technically allows a daily budget of as little as one euro, but advertising doesn’t work effectively on a few euros. The algorithm needs enough results to learn who to show the ad to. Too small a budget keeps the campaign stuck in a constant learning phase, and results stay weak.
The goal sets the budget
The campaign goal affects how much money you need.
For conversion campaigns, Meta recommends around 50 conversions per week per ad set. You get a suitable daily budget with this formula: 50 times your expected cost per conversion, divided by seven. It’s worth setting the cost per conversion based on your own margin: how much a purchase or a lead can cost for the advertising to be profitable.
Traffic and reach goals are cheaper and can run on a smaller amount. They are often used to build awareness and reach new customers.
Budget retargeting separately
It’s worth setting aside about 5 to 10 percent of your total budget for retargeting. It is typically the most productive part of your advertising, because the audience already knows the company.
Audience and season affect the price
The more sought-after the audience, the more expensive it is to reach. A competitive age group, seasonal peaks, and sale periods drive up the cost per impression. This is worth keeping in mind in your budget, especially during the high seasons at the end of the year.
Grow the budget gradually
When your advertising is producing results, it’s worth growing the budget moderately, about 10 to 20 percent a week. Jumps that are too big at once push the algorithm back into the learning phase and can weaken results temporarily.
